Nine years ago, the last episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer aired on television. That show means more to me than anything in this world because of the strength and determination Buffy and the Scoobies give me to live my life everyday.

It’s because of Giles that I learned that it’s okay to have a dark past, because your true friends will love you either way. Because of Xander I learned that you don’t need superpowers to be special. Because of Tara I learned that showing kindness to everyone is more important than fitting into the crowd. Faith taught me that there’s always time to change for the better. Dawn showed me that even when you feel like you’re alone, there’s someone else who’s going through the same thing as you. Spike showed me that love makes you do crazy things. Because of Willow I learned never to be afraid to be yourself. Because of Anya I learned that honesty is the greatest virtue of all. And most importantly, because of Buffy I learned how to face the harshness of life, to be strong, and that the hardest thing in this world is to live in it. Because of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, I know that heroes do exist.

Thank you for being so special to me for the past fourteen years of my life. You will literally be a part of me until the day I die. Until then, rest in peace Sunnydale.
